I am missing something in my life. I do not know exactly what it is, but I feel its lack of presence. I need to find inner peace and contentment with this life. Can anyone help me out? I feel that I am too materialistic and that I need to avert my focus to something much more important. Suggestions?

    Hi Professor,

I just found this tribe, hence a delayed response. Nice to meet you all!

I just went through a *HUGE* perspective shift; no make that 2 HUGE perspective shifts in just the last year. One brought me my mortality on a plate, the other (recently) posed the question: Make a choice between what sort of paradigm you wish to live by (i.e. what sort of world I want to live in.)

I have been shell shocked since then, and more and more I realized that I faced a very large demon, although it was the first time I looked into its eyes.

I might suggest, based on your posting, and coming from some big time personal work, that you bring into your perspective all that is truthful and sacred to you. For example, do you live one way and "pray" another? Do you walk your talk? Do you live in your absolute authenticity at all times?

These are some of the questions I asked myself, and to my surprise, the answer to one or two of them was "no." Without being true to myself, without walking in my personal authenticity and truth, than my life became hollow, and sacred rituals/meditations/prayers became meaningless.

Regardless of what you believe about the construct of the world we live in, find meaning behind all of your actions, that links yourself to the "100%" you that you know your are (does that make sense?)

Material things mean nothing, and cannot replace a void left within, if you are not true and authentic with who your are, and if you are not living a life with any meaning or purpose. What is important to you? How can you help its cause, if even in a small way?

You don't have to save the world, but as I recently experienced, if you want to make a difference in the world, you can start by saving yourself. Redemption is a powerful and "perspective" shifting experience. This is has been my experience with your question.

    Best wishes

No idea what has happened in your life to bring about these thoughts. I think for many people they look into how they have lived life and see that something is missing. The majority are discovering that at their core they are running on empty.

Its a matter of converting yourself to run on a new fuel. The steps to do this are not difficult but require a great deal of effort. The first step for me which I still find myself working on involves breath work. Being with each moment, experience each moment as it is without judgement. I don't claim that I am able to not judge what happens to me but I am working on accepting my reality as it is.

Start to focus your attention on your breath. Follow it without force or control. Slow your mind down. Stop your thought process and just be in this time. This might sound too simple to help you out but it has an amzing power to transform a person. Most of us spend our whole lives thinking and dreaming of a time and place that is not now. Thus were not really living and were quite empty.

Try breath work and go from there
