Perspective Shiftingpublic - created 12/10/04 |

The idea of perspective shifting came to me from the idea that we associate meaning to all the things we perceive. Many times I would find myself perceive something around me -- someone saying something or doing something -- and I immediately would give it a meaning -- more often than not a negative one. So I thought, "What stops me from having a completely different point of view?" and the answer was "Myself!". So we have complete choice in terms of perspective, but that doesn't make it easy. Perspective shifting is trickier than is seems, as there are many things around us pushing us to create meaning: society, culture, peers, our own experience.
So the bottom line is, perspective shifting is a lifelong practice.
And the question is: when, as an individual, a family, community, society, civilization, we achieve effortless perspective shifting, what then will our lives look like? What games will we play when the usual ones of today have no more hold on us? Join in and find out!
